Arctic Resource Camp

Client’s goal & challenges: A mining firm needed 50 all-season housing cabins and a mess hall at an Arctic exploration site. Rapid deployment before winter freeze-up was critical, as was maintaining indoor heat efficiency in subzero temperatures. Overland transport was very limited.

Solution features: We provided 20′container units outfitted with 4″ spray-foam insulation and triple-glazed windows. The cabins are lifted onto piles above permafrost, and all mechanical units (heaters, generators) were mounted inside for protection. Because the structures were factory-built, on-site assembly took only weeks. Steel’s durability against cold and wind minimized weatherproofing needs – the insulated units easily held heat during extreme cold spells.

Shipping Container Retail Park

Client’s goal & challenges: A shopping center operator wanted a hip “container marketplace” extension of a suburban mall. They needed to quickly add a dozen pop-up stores without expensive ground-up construction. Challenges included providing deep utility trenches and managing noise.

Solution features: We built retail kiosks from 10′ and 20′ containers placed in a cluster. Each unit came prepped with lighting, HVAC louvres, and weather gaskets. Customers enjoyed the industrial aesthetic while tenants benefited from quick setup. The modular park was up and running in 8 weeks-  a fraction of traditional build time. Units can be repainted and reconfigured year-to-year as tenants change.

Border Health Outpost

Client’s goal & challenges: A state health department wanted a mobile clinic at a border crossing to serve transient populations. Key needs were complete indoor plumbing, AC for the desert heat, and mobility (to relocate as traffic patterns change).

Solution features: We used a 40′ container clinic with built-in water tanks and diesel generator. The exterior was over-coated with solar-reflective paint. Inside, the layout included exam rooms and waiting areas, all connected plumbing and power. Because the unit was ready-made, the clinic was deployed on-site in days. This turnkey approach provided a durable, climate-proof health station without costly civil works.
